After School Art Class Comes to Mountainview Elementary

Jun 7, 2022

Did you know that Art instruction helps children with the development of motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking, and inventiveness? The Visual arts also teach learners about color, layout, perspective, and balance: all techniques that are necessary in presentations (visual, digital) of academic work.

"Thanks to our student leaders for suggesting an after school art class, that turned out to be a huge success," says Principal Debbie Cameron. This is the beginning of many more to come in 2022-2023, as Mountainview Elementary had 94 students sign up for the new "After School Art Class." The students were broken into group classes by grade level, and level of challenging art material. Students used oil pastels, watercolors, Mod Podge, and other materials to create jellyfish, butterflies, bugs, and all different varieties of creative art. There were so many student smiles all around including staff and volunteers. In addition, the numerous volunteers from our community that came to support, also donated supplies to make this such a great time these students. "Thanks to our student leaders for planning such a fun, creative event, and many more to come," says Principal Debbie Cameron.
